1/2-time

alright, well, halftime of pistons-cavs game 4. if the cavs win tonight, there will presumably be a lot of blogging about the rest of the series. but first, do any cleveland fans hold any rational insight into the travesty that is the back of drew gooden's head? it looks like an on/off switch. or maybe he just grows it to keep his head band from slipping off of his bald head? someone explain the astroturf ponytail patch. it hurts me.

STANDING WAGER on the ASTRO-TURFED-ONE:

Drew Gooden will not score 19 points in a single game again until the 2007-2008 regular season. Any Cavs fans want to take this bet straight up for $40?? I was going to put the over-under around December 15th of next season, but that might be pushing it....

According to Drew, the patch of hair on the back his head is a retro look native to his hometown, Oakland. Apparently, when he was growing up, it was popular in that region.

An interesting theory proported by Bill Simmons is that the hair is the result of a lost bet with another member of the team.

I will not take you up on the bet. Drew has a good jumper and strong rebounding skills, but he is so wildly inconsistant and his passion has been questioned on numberous occasions. The Cavs beat reporter for the Plain Dealer recently described him as a pleasently aloof guy.

I can't say I remember anyone with a haircut like that around Oakland when I was a kid... maybe I was oblivious though.
